Less than Picture Perfect

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Ever since I was in high school, I was always fond of getting rid of blackheads by pricking them. I enjoy pricking them especially the big ones. Little did I know that pricking them mostly causes big pore holes and scars in the long run which makes my face less than picture perfect. If you run a close up on my photos, you will see the scars that pricking created on my face!

Anyway, it is easier to get rid of blackheads nowadays. There are many treatments that you can use. And if you are not into using chemicals, there is always Photoshop software you can use to edit your photos to get rid of the blemishes! LOL!

Weekend Shopping

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I have my online earnings converted to Philippine peso this morning. As I promised my mom, we will buy my baby’s crib using my current earnings. So when afternoon came, we went and bought a wooden crib for my baby. After delivering the crib at home, we went to the mall to buy foam for the crib.

So when we arrived at the mall, I bought foam for the crib. Since we were already there, my mom tried to convince me to buy a walker for the baby. So after a few minutes, I gave in to her plea and added a baby bag too!

It was like I had plenty of pre paid credit cards available for use for the day. After we paid for those items for my baby, we also went and bought my son and my daughter a pair of clothes! I was totally out of budget but anyway, I was glad I made my mom and my children happy.

Here is a snap shot of the things we bought:

The Neighbor and I

Thursday, February 25, 2010

A neighbor of ours saw me standing outside of our home carrying my baby when he approached and asked me if I could get an auto insurance quote online for his boss’s car. Unfortunately, I told him that I can but not from companies belonging here but only from the US. I explained to him that most auto insurance companies are not yet online. After explaining, he said thank you.

Anyway, we still continued talking about my work online. He asked me why I frequently take pictures of almost anything. So I explained to him that I do blogging and taking pictures of the things I am posting about makes my post more appealing. After that, he went back to his home.

Oh well, I should have taken a picture of him. My post would be utterly appealing if I have plastered us here but then again, he might think so weird of me posting every single thing that happens in my life! LOL!

Personalized Photo Items

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I am an avid Facebook user. So most of the time, my account is always open even though I am outside the house. Speaking of Facebook, a friend of mine invited me to become a FAN of an online company that specializes in printing personalized and promotional items. She said if I become a FAN, I will receive a free mouse pad with shipping. So, I immediately signed up, personalized my mouse pad with the pictures of my kids, placed the order and forgot about it!

After a few weeks, I think it was two weeks plus to be exact, my mouse pad arrived! I was filled with joy and excitement! I got a personalized mouse pad for FREE!! Check out the photo below:

Because of my excitement of having so many FREE credits, I automatically placed my second order. I ordered four (4) digital camera leather case that can be used as coin purse, two (2) heart key chain with me and hubby on it and another two (2) heart key chain with my children on it. All of them ordered for FREE, I only paid for the shipping which is very minimal. I can’t wait for my orders to arrive! It will nice to see photo memories placed on your purse and key chain!

No Camera For This Week

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Today is Tuesday and I am supposed to participate on the weekly meme, Ruby Tuesday. Unfortunately, since my husband borrowed my digital camera with a broken LCD, I was not able to take pictures that are worthy to upload.

Aside from the fact that there is no camera available, I was also busy researching about products containing human growth hormone (HGH). They say HGH can help a person feel and look young as it will stop the signs of aging. Pretty cool eh?

Anyway, I think I will pass on some of my photo memes this week. I think my husband will be busy using the camera for awhile since its time for them to make their monthly reports. He uses our camera at his workplace.

How to Find the Best Digital Camera

Sunday, February 14, 2010

It seems that every month, if not every week, different manufacturers are coming up with the latest digital cameras to entice potential clients. And it's just not working for us!

After spending sizeable amount of time at the mall figuring out which is the best digital camera for us, we finally have enough money to buy for that eye-popping, 7 mega pixel, 10x digital zoom, potable, candy colored, up to 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card and not to mention very portable, (that will be the envy of almost everyone we know). We march to the mall armed with our life savings and lotsa pride in ourselves, when we pass by a new display - an eight mega pixel, up to 1G expandable memory, with built it mic and stereo surround, video playback capable, with 22 scenic modes kind-of-camera. And we sigh because the producer of this amazing gadget claims that this is the best digital camera yet out in the market. And so as we always want to have the best, armed with our life savings and a few credit cards, we buy the "best digital camera." But then again, that doesn't last too long, after two months or so, there's another "best digital camera."

And so it confuses us. What makes a digital camera, the best digital camera?

Well, there are certain factors to consider when looking for the "best digital camera" for us.

MEGAPIXELS. One of the most important features of digital camera to make it into the best digital camera category is its mega pixel property. The higher the mega pixels the better the actual photograph will come out. A mega pixel is equivalent to one million pixels. The resolution of your image is based upon the mega pixel property of your camera. This means that as you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurry colors.

LCD SIZE. The best digital camera will always have a large LCD to help you frame your subject without having to squint to the viewfinder. This is also helpful when reviewing your images, some cameras enable touch up and editing features with its LCD. A 1.5-inch display is average, a 2-inch LCD display is good, but the best LCD size would be 2.5 inches or higher.

ZOOM. Most digital cameras have both digital and optical zoom. A higher optical zoom is always better than a higher digital zoom. Digital cameras are usually furnished with optical of between 3x to 10x. The better the optical zoom, the higher it climbs up to the best digital camera category.

MEMORY CARD. Always make sure that your memory card is the right one for your digital camera. There are different types of memory card like the xD, SD, Flash card and the likes. And these types of memory cards go with certain types of digital cameras. of course memory storage is also up there in choosing the best digital cameras. Choose the size of memory that you need, if you're a photo junkie, you might need more than 32MB. Memory cards can go up to 1G.

The key point to find the best digital camera is to find one that will best fit you and your lifestyle. Don't just buy the latest or the one that claims they are the best digital cameras out in the market. You wouldn't want to buy a DSLR and use it with your home activities or family outing and have to lug it around?! Or you don't want to buy the latest point and shoot camera when you're serious about being a professional photographer. (Of course, you can use this for starters, but if you're not a novice photographer anymore, you wouldn't want to get this kind of camera.)

Actually, the best digital camera is the one that you will enjoy and use. Not the type that you'll just leave rotting in its box or after a few weeks of usage or so, up there in the attic.

Let’s Get Digital: SLR Photography Basics

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Nowadays, according to psychologists, more and more people are getting visually inclined. In other words, most of us love to use our eyes!

In what ways do we use our eyes for?

We use our eyes to view things in our environment. However, through time, man has devised ways on how to preserve the things we see, whether these are beautiful or not, and one of which is by way of using cameras.

These days, the biggest sellers in the camera market are the so-called digital SLR cameras.

Just what is an SLR camera?

SLR is an acronym for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras were the tools made for and used by professional photographers. Cameras such as these, similarly, make use of mirror that reflects light entering the lens up into the eye piece or the viewfinder. Thus, a photographer can gauge how the image or picture will look like. Moreover, a SLR camera uses lenses that are interchangeable. Hence, this camera can be used for long distance telephoto photography or close-up macro photography.

A digital SLR or DSLR camera is dependent on lenses and mirror and their optical capabilities. However a DSLR camera uses light sensor chips and digital memory cards instead of films, basically a computerized version of the abovementioned camera.

The following summarizes the comparison between DSLR and point and shoot cameras (SLRs):

1. DSLRs and SLRs use interchangeable lenses for better resolution.
2. Any picture you take using SLRs and DSLRs is usually crisper, cleaner and fine upon reproduction.
3. DSLRs have a higher speed when it comes to focusing and taking pictures
4. DSLRs perform better at low lighting conditions by using ISO speeds. These cameras have lesser granularity.
5. DSLRS provide more professional power over depth of field, light, and responsiveness.
6. DSLRs provide a more immediate feedback as they use digital chips or light sensing CCDs that translate incoming light rays into digital pictures.
7. DSLRs and SLRs cost more than point and shoot cameras.
8. DSLRs and SLRs are usually heavier than some point and shoot models.

Some sample DSLR models are listed below:

Prosumer models:

• Canon EOS 10D
• Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
• Nikon D50
• Nikon D70s
• Pentax *ist DS

Professional Models:

• Canon EOS 1D Mark II
• Canon EOS 20D
• Fuji Finepix S3 Pro
• Nikon D2x

Who actually wants DSLRs? Anyone wants to have crisper and clearer pictures—be it a hobbyist or a professional photographer can opt for a DSLR model. Anyone who will not bother carrying bigger cameras on trips in order to bring back topnotch photos can make use of DSLRs.

Like all electronic and computerized gadgets, digital models tend to get cheaper yet better over time. For sure, DSLRs will eventually migrate down to consumer cameras: ability to take bursts of 10 frames in a few seconds, quick response time, higher resolution image sensors, and accurate auto-focus, among others.

The only thing that will remain constant are the laws of optics—you will not get the same results from a finger-nail sized lens as with larger lenses used by professional users. Also the fact that people do not have enough money all the time remains the same through time.

If you plan to take photography as a profession, practice shooting some shots using prosumers models and consider budget and quality of lenses before you say, “Big Cheese”!
